Marton Local History Group’s Aims: to promote interest in the history of the Marton area by coordinated research, preservation of living memories and presentations to Group members and the general public.

MLHG is a Friend of the Warwickshire County Record Office.
The Group is a member of Warwickshire Local History Society; their events page is here.
The Group has compiled all its presentations about Marton’s history over the years. Links to all these articles are available on the ‘Marton History’ page of this website.
In April 2026, it was decided that instead of a season of programmed meetings each year, presentations would be arranged on a more ad hoc basis.
It was becoming increasingly difficult to find enough volunteers to research and present new topics after sixteen years of tackling various subjects. The MLHG Committee would still meet and coordinate activities, including organising publications such as their book on Marton in the First World War.
They also want to continue offering help to those who have enquiries about Marton’s local history or have contributions to make. We would welcome any old photographs, documents and ephemera relating to the village for copying. All such resources accumulated over the years are kept at the village museum.
